Protecting the Oceans
Group Project
Research
To begin with we researched what the biggest threats to the Ocean were and divided up the list equally to share the work load then each began researching the topics given.
My five topics were:
Over Fishing
Mercury Levels
Sea Temperature Rising
Oil Spills
Plant Bio-diversity.

Upon completing the research we set about narrowing down the problems in the ocean and started trying to figure out ways we could create a brand or product which evoked a strong message to the public.
From this we narrowed it down that the biggest issue that we could respond with was to stop eating fish. After discussions and the idea of a sushi chain, we realised this was too small of a market and couldn't be accessed by all, we came to the decision of a plant based seafood chain of restaurants which also stocked supermarkets. Therefore, this would make the option for people to choose to eat less fish much more accessible.
Below is research based on what age range of people are plant based/vegan.

Below are two artboards which are based on who the target audience are that will buy this product (left) and the second based on the brands identity of demographic (right).
Product Research
Before figuring out the brand name and identity it was important to find existing vegan and plant based products, to get an indication of style, clour themes, names and which area of the market our product would fit in.
Brand Naming
Here, are some ideas from brain storming the brand name. It's quite tricky to figure out which direction you want your brand going to go for, either play on words, sea references or something totally irrelevant.
Tide - chosen brand name
After agreeing on Tide as the brand name, I started experimenting with different ways to create a logo or title which represented the brand.
This then led to didgital experimentation, with leaves helping to express the idea of plant based food.

Development Work - Logo
We all agreed on the typeface HWT Arabesque. We felt it reflected the ocean and also had a modern theme to it.
Brand guidelines - rough write up
We needed to come up with brand guidelines, here we came up with some which we felt suited the brands identitiy. I experimented with typography choices firstly which could represent the brand.
Packaging Inspiration
Packaging Thumbnails
Once we agreed on the logo style, it was time to begin packagin ideas. It was important for me to know what materials I thought we could make the packaging from. I had a vague idea of a cardboard/wood container with a paper sleeve.
Digital Developments
Packaging design
We all went off separatley and come up with our own unique ways of producing packaging for the plant based fish. Here I experimented with layout and contrasting colour.
The logo
Menu and advertisement developments
Here I tried to figure out different ways to advertise Tide by using the brand colours and play on words. The menu was a challenge, it either felt too busy or not enough. The balance was difficult to create.
